Cinnamon Chapati Recipe




This favourite Kenyan dish can be made even better by adding cinnamon.

WHAT YOU NEED

·        One-kilogram home baking flour
·        One tablespoon ground cinnamon
·        One tablespoon salt
·        One tablespoons melted butter or oil
·        Half a cup warm milk
·        Two medium-sized grated carrots
·        Lukewarm Water
·        One cup oil

HOW TO PREPARE CHAPATI IN CINNAMON

  1. In a bowl pour flour, salt and cinnamon and mix well.
  2. Make a depression at the center and pour in the melted butter, warm milk and grated carrots.
  3. Mix well as you knead the dough, Slowly add the warm water until soft.
  4. When ready, let it rest for 20 minutes.
  5.  Roll the dough into a large sheet and spread oil over it. Cut into thin strips.
  6.  Roll the strips into balls. Cover them with a kitchen towel and let them resst for 10 minutes.
  7. Take the balls one at a time and roll out into rounded shapes two centimeters thick.
  8. Oil the pan and place on the fire. When hot place the chapati on it and fry/cook both sides until olden brown. Remove from the fire and wrap in a clean kitchen cloth to keep it soft.
  9. Roll all the balls the same way and cook similarly

Serving Tips
Good with ndengu or beef stew.
