Kaimati ya Ndizi

This Swahili dish makes a good snack or can be served
for breakfast.

Ingredients:

  •      2 cups of Wheat flour
  •      1/2 teaspoon Baking powder 
  •      1 teaspoon yeast 
  •      1 teaspoon butter
  •      3 tablespoons of sugar
  •      1/4 teaspoon iliki(Cardamom)
  •      1 egg
  •      1 1/4 cups of water
  •      3 ripe bananas
  •      Oil

Instructions:

  1. Put the flour, baking powder, sugar butter, egg and water in a bowl then mix well
  2. Cut bananas into suitable sizes then set aside
  3. When the mixture has risen(yeast factor), dip the banana slices into the mixture to coat them well.
  4. Deep fry until golden brown, then  use mesh sieve or sieve spoon that you are cooking with, to filter the deep-fryer oil.

Serving Tips
Also goes well as a morning 10
O'clock snack. You can serve with tea.
